About organisation: Improving skills and well-being through play. We retail modern board games and run a monthly Board Game Café.
We also use board games in educational settings to improve skills and well-being among young people and adults in schools, youth clubs, the home-education community and other settings.
IMPROVING SKILLS AND WELL-BEING
Our team recognise the value of using board games in an educational setting, so we are using the Skills Builder Framework 2.0 to improve skills and well-being. We are running a pilot offer with young people, and are aiming to expand our offer into schools, youth clubs, the home-education community and other settings.
MONTHLY BOARD GAME CAFES We run a monthly board game café at Johnny's Happy Place Café in Kettering on the first Friday of the month. The café nights often sell out and bring together board gamers of all ages to enjoy playing in a relaxed setting.
THE NORTHANTS BOARD GAME CONVENTION
Now in its second year, the Northants Board Game Convention (NorbCon) saw the event sell out in its first year and over 500 people attended over two days in 2025. Held at Kettering Arts Centre, it was warmly received and attracted board gamers from across the country. There was a friendly and inclusive atmosphere as people took part in tournaments and social gaming experiences, and played games with family and friends (and made new friends).
RETAILING BOARD GAMES
We have been traders at That Pink Shop in Kettering (formerly The Bean Hive) since 2019 and continue to retail games in Kettering at That Pink Shop and Kitsch Mitch and Vintage Guru in Northampton, as well as at pop-up events throughout the county.
